ROBBIE MADDISON SETS NEW DISTANCE RECORD

    Jan 01, 2008
Robbie Maddison jumped an insane 322 feet New Year’s eve to set the Guinness World Record for the longest distance ever jumped on a motorbike. Maddo dedicated the jump to his idol, the late Evel Knieval.
Vision and images of the record breaking jump were splashed throughout media around the world including back here in Australia following ESPN’s live telecast of the event.

Maddo is locked in to defend the title at the Crusty Demons Night of World Records presented by Rockstar Energy Drink at Calder Park on March 29. The event has been dubbed the biggest event in extreme sports history and will see Robbie go head-to-head against American legends Seth Enslow and Ryan Capes.

It feels unbelievable to have the record finally, but there is no time for relaxing. I did not put this much effort in only to have Capes or Seth take the title away from me three months later. My focus is now on the Night of World Records and making sure the title stays with me. Being able to smash my own record and send the American guys home packing in front of a huge Aussie crowd is going to be insane. You don’t want to miss it!

The tension is rising between Maddison and his long time rival Capes, with Capes saying he is ready for the challenge and was waiting to see the distance Robbie jumped on New Year’s Eve so he could set up his training ramp accordingly.

Now that I know what Robbie jumped I am going to go out and train jumping further. I am coming to Melbourne to take his record off him and there is no way I will be going home without it,” said Capes from his US base.

To accommodate the record breaking attempts a new revolutionary one million dollar arena will be constructed at the Calder Park circuit, which will include the world’s biggest ever down ramp at 125 foot long and 60 foot high and wide. More than 30,000 tones of dirt will be used to build the arena, with more than 15, 000 tonnes of soil going into the construction of the down ramp.

At least ten Guinness World Record attempts will take place at the Crusty Demons Night of World Records, with a turnout of more than 30,000 people expected to witness history. New boundaries will be created on four wheelers, mini-bikes, road bikes and snow mobiles.

To complement the record breaking component of the event, a full Crusty Demons freestyle motocross show will be presented by Rockstar Energy Drink and includes US freestyle stars world number one Nate Adams, 2007 X Games gold medallist Adam Jones, Jim McNeill, along with

Aussies Blake ‘Bilko’ Williams, Steve Mini, Matt Schubring, Joel Balchin and Cam Sinclair.
